'Boogie at the Barn' coming May 4th, '13! - April 22, 2013

'BOOGIE AT THE BARN'
Sadie Hawkins Barn Dance
Alderfer Ranch at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park
Saturday, May 4th from 5pm to 11pm

Touted by many as “the best party Evergreen has had in years”, the first Boogie at the Barn in October of 2012 was a huge success with almost 400 people in attendance. Now, “Boogie” is back for 2013 as a series of three great barn dances, the first of which will take place on Saturday, May 4th.

In the tradition of the old barn dances and in celebration of spring, this first Boogie at the Barn of 2013 will be a Sadie Hawkins Dance – “gals ask guys”.

The dance will take place at the old Alderfer Ranch barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park. This beloved barn, which had its beginnings over 100 years ago, was opened up to the community for the first time for the original 'Boogie at the Barn' in October 2012, and will be open again for the Sadie Hawkins Boogie at the Barn on Saturday, May 4th. It will be another high-energy evening reminiscent of the foot-stompin' barn parties held by Hank and Barbie Alderfer during the ranch's heyday. Hank says, “It was incredible to see the barn brought back to life and we are thrilled that these good-time dances will continue.”

Three 'Boogie at the Barn' dances are scheduled this year:
May 4th - Sadie Hawkins dance featuring Angie Stevens and the Beautiful Wreck
June 14th – Cowboy dance on Rodeo Weekend featuring Halden Wofford and the Hi Beams
October 12th – Original Boogie at the Barn featuring Something Underground

Tickets for the Sadie Hawkins Dance are $10 at the door and $8 in advance. Advance tickets are strongly recommended as tickets will be limited due to the barn's capacity. Cash or check only. The One Love Truck and the Texorado BBQ Food truck will be featured, along with Ska Brewing Company handcrafted beers, and also wine will be available for purchase at the event.

The "Boogie at the Barn" dance parties were conceived by John Erlandson, local musician and concert producer, as a way to bring life back to the old barn in partnership with EPRD and involve the community with in a limited restoration of the historic facility. Erlandson and Pandora Reagan are caretakers of the Alderfer Ranch House and are excited to continue this partnership to bring the 2013 barn dances to the community.

In addition, four original paintings of the barn from local artists at Stoneheart Gallery were created for the Boogie at the Barn series and will be sold at the event to benefit the barn restoration. These paintings can be viewed and purchased in advance as well at the gallery in downtown Evergreen.

“Angie Stevens and the Beautiful Wreck” will headline the event. Angie and her band bring energetic alternative country mixed with indie rock, and contemporary folk and pop. Angie has toured the entire country and internationally, and has opened for 50+ national acts including Cheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge. True to the Boogie at the Barn concept, she has a tremendous gift for connecting with her audiences.

Opening the evening at 5pm is a great mix of well-loved local musicians: Cort Langworthy, Jeff King, Dean Dalvit, Rich Jacobs, Johnny Turner, Lisa Delia, Scott Messler & John Erlandson known for this performance as "Rough Mix".

'Boogie at the Barn' is sponsored by Colorado Serenity, Intero Real Estate, Warren and Betsy Rose, Chow Down, Evergreen Park & Recreation District and Stone Heart Gallery and produced by John & Pandora Productions.

'Boogie at the Barn' - October 1, 2012

1st Annual Barn Dance at the old Alderfer Barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park
Friday, October 12 from 6pm to 11pm

For the first time in decades, the old Alderfer Ranch barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park will be open for the community to enjoy on Friday, Oct. 12, when its caretakers host “Boogie at the Barn," a high-energy evening reminiscent of the foot-stompin' barn parties held by Hank and Barbie Alderfer during the ranch's heyday.

New! Six original paintings of the barn from local artists at Stoneheart Gallery were created for Boogie at the Barn and will be sold at the event. These paintings can be viewed and purchased in advance as well at the gallery in downtown Evergreen. The entire proceeds from the paintings will go towards the restoration efforts.

The barn dance -- featuring music by ‘Something Underground’ -- will offer many their first opportunity to get inside of this beloved barn. Currently used by Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) for storage, the barn had its beginnings over 100 years ago. The log portion was part of the original Hester Homestead in the 1850's. The traditional timber framed portion of the barn was built in 1900, then expanded by Hank and Barbie Alderfer in the 1970's before being sold to Jefferson County Open Space in 1985. Hank says, "The barn was the center of recreation for an agricultural kid! It's great to see that good times and laughter are returning to this beautiful place."

The "Boogie at the Barn" dance party was conceived by John Erlandson, local musician and concert producer, as a way to bring life back to the old barn and involve the community with Evergreen Park and Recreation District in a limited restoration of the historic facility. Erlandson and Pandora Reagan are caretakers of the Alderfer Ranch House, and are working in partnership with Evergreen Park & Recreation District to host this event. Proceeds will go toward limited restoration efforts for the barn and ranch.
The highly touted Denver-based dance band “Something Underground” will headline the event. Instantly recognizable for its brotherly harmonies, ‘Something Underground” is a growing musical force that is winning people’s hearts with its energetic blend of rock, reggae, folk and pop. Consisting of brothers Josh and Seth Larson on vocals, bass, guitar and keys, and Trevor Mariotti on drums, its members are as well known for their tireless support of charity organizations and community building as for their passionate stage performance and loyal fans.

”Boogie at the Barn” is sponsored by Colorado Serenity, Bergen Park Paint, John Erlandson Fine Painting and Intero Real Estate, and organizers are seeking additional sponsors.

Minnesota Tour '06 - November 11, 2006

Best trip back to Minnesota since I left for Colorado in '94. Hung with Charlie and most notably connected with Cousin Sheryl & Tom Ebenreiter... you're great! Met families and played for James & Troye Newcomb's wedding... lots of love in the room. Later that evening saw old neighborhood & high school friends while playing the Piano Bar at Embassy Suites in Bloomington. Next day traveled to Duluth to play at The Blue Note Cafe. Chris & Christy Gardner made this happen, bringing in a good crowd on a Vikings-Packers Sunday afternoon. Much thanks!
