'Boogie at the Barn' coming May 4th, '13!

'BOOGIE AT THE BARN' Sadie Hawkins Barn Dance Alderfer Ranch at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park Saturday, May 4th from 5pm to 11pm Touted by many as “the best party Evergreen has had in years”, the first Boogie at the Barn in October of 2012 was a huge success with almost 400 people in attendance. Now, “Boogie” is back for 2013 as a series of three great barn dances, the first of which will take place on Saturday, May 4th. In the tradition of the old barn dances and in celebration of spring, this first Boogie at the Barn of 2013 will be a Sadie Hawkins Dance – “gals ask guys”. The dance will take place at the old Alderfer Ranch barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park. This beloved barn, which had its beginnings over 100 years ago, was opened up to the community for the first time for the original 'Boogie at the Barn' in October 2012, and will be open again for the Sadie Hawkins Boogie at the Barn on Saturday, May 4th. It will be another high-energy evening reminiscent of the foot-stompin' barn parties held by Hank and Barbie Alderfer during the ranch's heyday. Hank says, “It was incredible to see the barn brought back to life and we are thrilled that these good-time dances will continue.” Three 'Boogie at the Barn' dances are scheduled this year: May 4th - Sadie Hawkins dance featuring Angie Stevens and the Beautiful Wreck June 14th – Cowboy dance on Rodeo Weekend featuring Halden Wofford and the Hi Beams October 12th – Original Boogie at the Barn featuring Something Underground Tickets for the Sadie Hawkins Dance are $10 at the door and $8 in advance. Advance tickets are strongly recommended as tickets will be limited due to the barn's capacity. Cash or check only. The One Love Truck and the Texorado BBQ Food truck will be featured, along with Ska Brewing Company handcrafted beers, and also wine will be available for purchase at the event. The "Boogie at the Barn" dance parties were conceived by John Erlandson, local musician and concert producer, as a way to bring life back to the old barn in partnership with EPRD and involve the community with in a limited restoration of the historic facility. Erlandson and Pandora Reagan are caretakers of the Alderfer Ranch House and are excited to continue this partnership to bring the 2013 barn dances to the community. In addition, four original paintings of the barn from local artists at Stoneheart Gallery were created for the Boogie at the Barn series and will be sold at the event to benefit the barn restoration. These paintings can be viewed and purchased in advance as well at the gallery in downtown Evergreen. “Angie Stevens and the Beautiful Wreck” will headline the event. Angie and her band bring energetic alternative country mixed with indie rock, and contemporary folk and pop. Angie has toured the entire country and internationally, and has opened for 50+ national acts including Cheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge. True to the Boogie at the Barn concept, she has a tremendous gift for connecting with her audiences. Opening the evening at 5pm is a great mix of well-loved local musicians: Cort Langworthy, Jeff King, Dean Dalvit, Rich Jacobs, Johnny Turner, Lisa Delia, Scott Messler & John Erlandson known for this performance as "Rough Mix". 'Boogie at the Barn' is sponsored by Colorado Serenity, Intero Real Estate, Warren and Betsy Rose, Chow Down, Evergreen Park & Recreation District and Stone Heart Gallery and produced by John & Pandora Productions.
